This crustose lichen grows on tree trunks and rocks. It is used against fever, but can cause kidney stones.

It can provide up to 50% of its weight of lime oxalate, which is used in the chemical industry (water-insoluble crystals), or as an insecticide in beekeeping to suppress mites in bees.
