The Peak of Lizieux
An ancient volcano in Auvergne, Le suc du Lizieux peaks at an altitude of 1,388 m, from where you can observe a 360° panorama of the forest-rich plateau, the Ardèche and Alti Ligérien peaks, and also the Alps.
From the wooded and particularly humid bottom to the rocky and cold summit, one can observe a multitude of fungal species and many rare lichens. It is a wonderful laboratory to study fungi in their element.
I offer you two different outings:
Discovery of mushrooms in the forests of the lower Lizieux. We can observe a large number of species, from coniferous forests to mixed woods and some passages in humid zones.
Discovery of lichens (hike to the summit of Lizieux). A multitude of species color the volcanic rocks of the scree slopes, we can observe lichens that are only found in the regions of the far north.
